Get Involved

All roles at ACT are open to anyone in the community! No experience is necessary to audition. Here are a few tips to help you understand our audition process:

Auditions are held over two nights, and you may choose either night to audition. Auditions for our shows are held on our stage, unless otherwise noted. No need to make an appointment. We will get you signed in when you arrive!

We list approximate age ranges of the characters, but it’s always a good idea to come by and
check out the script so you can get a feel for the characters.

For musical auditions, you must perform a short song to sing either a capella or have a cd recording or mp3 recording with which to sing along, as well as the player. Sometimes we may have a piano accompanist available. We cannot, however, guarantee a cd player or pianist available at the time of the audition, so it's best to be prepared.

For non-musical auditions, all audition material is provided and will be available at the auditions.
Generally, you will be asked to read pages from the script in front of the director, the stage manager, and another reader. You are certainly welcome to bring something from home to read or recite for your audition as well.
Childrens Workshops
We love getting our kids involved! All children need the arts in their lives.

Each summer, Area Community Theatre offers products geared toward children of all ages. They learn valuable lessons to help build self-expression, self-confidence and concentration skills through theatre games and improvisational exercises. Basic theatre terminology is taught, as well as the importance behind the Area Community Theatre's history in Tomah and the surrounding communities.

Area Community Theatre also tries to offer unique summer workshops and activities for the children in the area, to help encourage and enhance stage skills, or simply enhance their imagination. We are always looking for great ideas for these workshops or mini classes. So if you have any particular children's classes/skill building workshops you would like to recommend for your child or others in the community, or are interested in offering a workshop, please contact the Box Office and leave a message. Your call will be returned.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are our building blocks. Area Community Theatre could not function without them. ACT is a volunteer-driven theatre where everyone is welcome! If you’re enthusiastic about learning a new skill or sharing your talents with us, we’d love to have you!

Volunteers needed for a new committee to develop and market our Cultural Arts Center.

Typical volunteer positions include:

•Volunteer ushers scan tickets, distribute programs, direct patrons to their seats, and complete a light clean-up of the theatre following each performance.
•Lobby greeters are responsible for opening doors, welcoming patrons, handling box office questions, and directing patrons.

**Volunteers should dress in either all black or black bottoms with white tops.

Would you like to get involved?

Please use our Contact Information and leave your name, number & area in which you want to help. This information will then get to the person in charge of those jobs, and they will contact you and use your help!
There are no paid positions open at this time; however, please feel free to check back with our box office, follow along on our social media or website. There are always volunteer opportunities available though. So please let us know if you are interested in any of those options.
